Painting Abstracts: Artist Techniques
by Afrika
Painting abstracts are natural for me. I begin painting abstracts by first placing the paint onto the canvas with either brush or touch of my fingers which gives me the freedom to release my mind. I do not use a palette. Instead, I rather explore the possibilities that the paint has by letting the paint come directly from the tube onto the surface. In painting abstracts, I use the concept of color, tone, space, strength, energy, rhythm, imagination and sensual sensation.
Developing Collages
by Afrika

Developing collages are very easy and natural for me. As I begin to develop each collage that I create. I first begin by laying out the materials that I will use for creating each collage which consists of paper, canvas, glue and old abstract finger paintings. Then, I apply glue on the old abstract finger paintings and begin to apply it on the surface that I will use in a strategic matter.
Each collage that I develop revolves around my heritage, culture, traditions and is full of energy, sensation and power.
None of the collages that I developed began with a preliminary sketch. I develop each of them with pure imagination and inspiration from spirit from beginning to end. It usually will take me between one day or weeks to complete the collage. The end result usually is different in each collage that I develop.
