Why Abstract Art
by Afrika
Abstract art is described as a non-representational form.
"In the very early 20th century, the term 'abstract art' was more often used to describe art, such as Cubist and Futurist art, that depicted real forms in a simplified or rather reduced way —keeping only an allusion of the original natural subject."
Abstract art gives me the freedom and power to depict images either on paper or canvas using various materials and methods through a non-representational approach. Additionally, it gives me the opportunity to capture elements as I view them through my own eye. Through depicting images, I begin without a preliminary drawing and produce my vision through the power of the materials.
For some viewers, abstract art can be difficult to interpret and sell. Despite this, the challenges that arise from creating abstract art, it still is popular and intense.
